RHS Garden Wisley, Woking, Surrey

Do you like helping people and have a passion for plants and horticulture? Why not help the UK’s leading gardening charity, based in the beautiful setting of the RHS flagship garden in Surrey? RHS Garden Wisley has many varied plant collections and garden areas within the 240-acre site, attracting more than one million visitors per year.

As part of the RHS Libraries, the brand new Wisley Library in the Hilltop- The Home of Garden Science encourages visitors of all ages to access our unique collections of horticultural books, journals and online databases.

You will assist with:

  • welcoming and helping visitors
  • lending and enquiry services
  • providing information about library services, resources, displays and events
  • signposting to other RHS teams and services (including advisory, curatorial, education and membership).

Previous library experience is an advantage but not essential. Interested candidates must be comfortable in a customer service and IT-based environment. You will need to be committed to offering exceptional customer service to library visitors. An interest in horticulture and gardening is also desirable. Please read the Library Volunteer Role Description for more details about this voluntary role.

We ask that weekend library volunteers give a commitment of working one Saturday every four weeks from 9:45 to 16:00.   We understand, of course, that life will sometimes get in the way, but it is important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us before filling in an application.

We are committed to being an inclusive recruiter and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We would particularly welcome applicants who are aged 18-25 as we are underrepresented in this age group. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all volunteers to share this commitment.

To apply please visit our website via the link.

Informal discussions with short-listed applicants will take place after the closing date.

Closing date 9pm on October 31st.
