RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Crag Lane, Harrogate

Job Overview

Do you love gardening and enjoy being outside? Would you like to help maintain one of the most beautiful gardens in the North by joining the Garden Team at RHS Garden Harlow Carr?

We currently have volunteering opportunities in our Curatorial department – Floral, Woodland, Kitchen Garden or Alpine, for enthusiastic people to help with our core gardening activities in these areas and supporting the team to deliver new horticultural projects across the garden.

As an RHS Garden Harlow Carr Volunteer, there will also be times when you will be asked to support teams in other areas of the garden. Being identifiable as a member of the garden team means that you may be asked questions by members of the public and so providing excellent customer service is also part of the role.

We ask that garden volunteers give a commitment of 4 hours per week on a regular basis. We do, of course, understand that life will sometimes get in the way, but it is important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us before filling in an application.

We are committed to being an inclusive recruiter and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds (we would particularly welcome applications from people aged 18-25 years old as we are currently under-represented from this age group). We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expects all volunteers to share this commitment.

To apply, complete an online application form, even if you have volunteered with us before. Please note this link will take you through to our Volunteer Portal where, if you have not already done so, you will be prompted to create a log in before progressing to the application form. Please ensure that you describe how your skills and experience are relevant to the role you are applying for (as specified in the role description) as this is how applicants will be shortlisted.

To apply please visit our website via the link and apply online.

All applications should be received by 6pm on Friday 11 June.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a short informal interview (approx. 20–30 mins) from mid-June onwards.
