RHS Garden Rosemoor, Great Torrington, Devon, EX38 8PH

Do you enjoy inspiring children and young people to take an interest in plants, gardens and horticulture? Would you like to support the delivery of curriculum-based activities to school groups visiting RHS Garden Rosemoor? Does looking at plants, searching for minibeasts and exploring different areas of the garden sound like a day well spent? If so, we would love to welcome you as part of our team of volunteers to support with school visits at RHS Garden Rosemoor.

We are looking for two volunteers to take on a regular day once a week, and a third volunteer to support on a more ad hoc basis when we have two simultaneous classes or require additional support. RHS Garden Rosemoor has great resources set within the Peter Buckley Learning Centre, with two classrooms, an outdoor teaching area, and the opportunity to explore the garden and woodland areas.

Volunteers will help to set up the classrooms and outdoor areas for school activities, support RHS teachers with the delivery of workshops, and engage and interact with the children to support their learning. Your support with collecting feedback from groups will also be appreciated and, after a workshop has finished, assisting with basic tidying in the teaching areas. Please read the role description for more details about this role.

Please note this role is subject to a DBS check.

How to apply

We are committed to being an inclusive recruiter and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We would particularly welcome applications from people aged 18–25 years old as we are currently under represented from this age group.

We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all volunteers to share this commitment.

To apply, complete an online application form, even if you have volunteered with us before. Please note this link will take you through to our Volunteer Portal where, if you have not already done so, you will be prompted to create a log in before progressing to the application form. Please ensure that you describe how your skills and experience are relevant to the role(s) you are applying for (as specified in the role description) as this is how we shortlist applications.

All applications should be received by 6pm on Sunday 9 May.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a short informal interview via Zoom from mid-May onwards.
