Online fundraising volunteer - Kent & East Sussex
Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. Cats are at the centre of everything we do and our objectives are: homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care. We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters. Apply for opportunity
A bit about this role
As a charity we are only able to help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to the donations we receive from generous members of the public. Our online fundraisers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by organising online sales of goods, using social media to encourage donations and any other innovative ways to raise funds they can think of! Making a difference can mean as little as raising 18p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Organising online donations and selling products to raise funds
- Raising funds through social networking sites and websites
- Asking for pledges and raising awareness of how donated funds are used at Cats Protection
- Sharing fundraising ideas and putting these ideas into practice.
We are looking for someone to harness social media to fundraise, raise branch awareness, obtain new members. Assistance in preparing hard copy newsletter for older members (not on social media) also required. Role can be performed virtually. Person need not necessarily live in our area but would definitely need to meet committee members at some point of time each year. Person needs to be IT literate and literate. Ability to use own skills and work independently a prerequisite. Knowledge of online fundraising/communication an advantage
What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by using your online skills to raise funds to help cats in your local community. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
We’re looking for someone with
- Good IT skills
- Good understanding of spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Willingness to be part of a team
- The ability to use own initiative
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of online fundraising (would be an advantage)
Our online fundraisers usually spend 2 to 3 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. To make sure this is the case, we provide support and guidance both remotely from our National Cat Centre and face to face through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We also offer varied online and face to face training and have wide-ranging policies covering all aspects of volunteering. We hope the support we provide will ensure our volunteers have a great experience with Cats Protection.
