Volunteer recruiters capture the hearts and minds of our volunteers and play a key role in our vibrant volunteer community.  As a volunteer recruiter, you will connect people with opportunities for volunteering and support them to get involved.       

Interested in supporting potential volunteers to recognise their own skills and experience. You are committed to enabling and empowering others and enjoy making people feel welcome and supported.

You will play an integral role in supporting and enabling volunteers to find and undertake roles where they will truly transform the lives of people who are living with dementia.

Four hours per month on an ongoing basis. Your volunteering activities can be delivered flexibly, an hour a week or two hours a week, and on evenings and weekends. You will need to check in with your peers and colleagues regularly and to be responsive to need.

What’s involved?

•Visit groups, clubs and organisations in community settings and use your enthusiasm and knowledge to talk about the value of volunteering in order to inspire people to volunteer with the Society.

•Provide information about the variety of volunteering roles we have on offer.

•Network in your local community to raise the profile of the Alzheimer’s Society and its campaigns and activities. 

•Provide practical support to potential volunteers to enable them to complete their applications.

•Work with and provide practical support to colleagues who wish to recruit volunteers, such as supporting with interviews

•If you have excellent communication and listening skills.

•You are confident speaking to groups of people and are able to convey enthusiasm and passion.

•Know about, or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people.

•Are keen to enable and champion a high standard of service for people living with dementia.

•Are committed to inclusion and treating people from all backgrounds with dignity.

Learning and development

To ensure you have the tools and knowledge needed for this role, including an understanding of dementia, you will need to complete around 5 hours of induction training and development within the first 4 weeks.  This will include learning about our volunteer offer and our volunteering roles.

What can you expect from us?

You will be supported by your manager and will receive expert training, guidance and support to develop in the role. You will have opportunities for development and will gain a professional skill set. Agreed out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with our Expenses Policy, e.g. travel mileage.

Flexible, may include Alzheimer’s Society premises, community based settings or home-based.
