Event Volunteer - Simmer Down Reggae Festival 2019

Prostate Cancer UK is once again the official charity partner for the Simmer Down Reggae Festival held in Handsworth Park, Birmingham this summer. We are looking for volunteers to help us raise awareness of the increased risk of prostate cancer for black men through a variety of activities on the day.

At our Prostate Cancer UK tent we will have: a poster wall, health information and specialist nurse stand and interactive activities designed to raise awareness in a fun and friendly environment. This is an exciting event to be a part of and a perfect opportunity to raise awareness of prostate cancer with our target audience.

What I do 

  • I am the face of Prostate Cancer UK at the festival.
  • I give out information leaflets to visitors.
  • I help deliver awareness and engagement  activities in the Prostate Cancer UK tent.
  • I engage with festival-goers and encourage them to visit the Prostate Cancer UK tent

Shift 2 – 16:30 to 20:30

You can do as little or as much as you like on the day. Tell us how much time you have and how you would like to spend it and we will tailor the role around you - we want this to be an amazing experience for you!


Handsworth Park, Birmingham


No training is required, however, we will support you with key top-line awareness messages and how to answer frequently asked questions. A full volunteer brief (including travel details) will be sent to you, along with a named staff contact who will be able to answer any questions you may have before the event.

On the day, you will receive a volunteer briefing before your shift, during which, you will be made aware of who you can go to should you have any questions or need any assistance. 

Please note that the event is outdoors and will have loud music playing throughout.
