Chair of Governors

Voluntary role

Closing date: 9am, Monday 22nd April

First round interviews: early May

The Archer Academy seeks to appoint an exceptional individual as our next chair of governors from September 2019.  We are a thriving community secondary school in East Finchley, North London.  Founded in September 2013 in response to overwhelming local demand, the school is now an established part of the educational landscape.

Oversubscribed since our first year, and popular with parents, students and staff alike, we bring together girls and boys from all backgrounds, and of all abilities, and support them as they grow together and learn from each other.

Our aim is to prepare our students to step confidently into the adult world, with the qualifications, attitudes and skills that will open doors, spark meaningful opportunities and allow them to shine. We have high expectations, and challenge them to achieve their personal best, whatever their starting points.

Our first set of GCSEs results in August 2018 have put us within the top 10% of schools nationally.  As we enter the next stage of our development, and start to build on this success, the role of chair of governors is particularly critical.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about the value of education, passionate about supporting positive outcomes for our students and willing to act as a critical friend to the headteacher and their staff; someone who will support the founding vision and ethos of the school and work with both governors and the Trust to bring it to life; and someone with the time and energy to do so wholeheartedly.  It is a challenging role but immensely rewarding.
