Purpose of Role

 

To produce a Directory of providers and services who can support people living in Redbridge who have sensory impairments. The Directory will be a Redbridge service, but will include providers and services external to Redbridge but available to residents.

 

Minimum Time Commitment

 

The Volunteer will be required to undertake their placement twice a week for 3 hours per session. The times will be agreed with the Redbridge Sensory Team.

 

Duties of Position

 

To research (find suppliers of equipment and training) providers and services that offer support to people with sensory impairments To contact (using list provided) partners to provide contacts for the directory To collate research into a structured list using Microsoft Word To work with the Chair of Redbridge Low Vision Group to obtain support, advice and feedback to ensure that the Directory meets the needs of the community To undertake other similar duties and responsibilities after discussion with the Chair/Service Manager. Skills/Experience

 

Essential

 

 Research experience, this can be from either work,studyor other volunteer roles

 

 GoodIT skills, especially Microsoft Word and Outlook

 

 Good written and spoken English

 

 Confident to approach providers by telephone

 

 Professional telephone manner

 

 Can work using own initiative

 

Desirable

 

 Report writing skills

 

 Good organisational skills
