Within our refurbishment centres we are looking for volunteers to carry out a wide range of roles. Tools are brought to the centre which need to be sorted and checked over. Refurbishment and testing often needs to take place to bring the tools to a condition where they can be included within a tool kit
You will need to be friendly and approachable. You should have commitment to what you are doing with a willingness to work hard whilst taking enjoyment and satisfaction from your volunteering role.
Tasks may include
Welcoming people and taking in donations of tools
Sorting through tools and passing to other sections of the centre for refurbishment
Checking and testing tools donated
Carrying out simple cleaning and refurbishment to bring the tools up to a condition for inclusion in a tool kit. This may include minor repairs, sharpening, replacing parts or restoration
You need to have a friendly personality and be able to work well as part of a team. Some skills in the relevant area are a bonus but these are not a requirement as training can be provided and there are some roles which do not require any specialist skills. You should be willing to work hard but also to enjoy yourself working alongside other volunteers. For many roles, an eye for detail will be needed. Some roles will also require a higher level of physical fitness as there may be heavy tools to move. Some roles may need you to be able to work under pressure from time to time as there may be container shipping deadlines to be met
We provide a full induction and a volunteer handbook on starting. You will have a named contact within TWAM for any questions or problems and further training can be provided as required. You will also be given a TWAM Polo Shirt and Fleece to wear and any Personal Protective Equipment Needed,
From the role, you will gain a warm satisfaction at the difference you are making to peoples lives. You will also have opportunities if you wish to learn new skills. We will provide a reference if required for a future employer or other organisation
