How you will make a difference to cats and people:
By promoting the vision of Cats Protection and raising awareness of the activities and achievements of your local volunteer group through a regular newsletter, you will play an important role in keeping people in your area in the know about how Cats Protection are making a big difference in the lives of cats and kittens in need.

What the role involves:

  • You will liaise with the group committee, local volunteers and, potentially, members of the public to source articles/pictures and to ensure that the newsletter covers all relevant information and that everyone gets their submissions in on time
  • You will be responsible for editing the newsletter and work with the Publicity Team Leader to ensure that it promotes a positive and professional image of the charity, that the relevant permissions to use articles and photos have been sought and that content complies with Cats Protection policies and guidelines
  • You will also be responsible for organising the printing and distribution of the newsletter, which may involve seeking local business partnerships to assist with costs if required

Skills and experience which are expected and/or can be developed in this role:

  • Good organisational skills
  • Creativity and excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills and ability to use basic desktop publishing software
  • Editorial experience would be an advantage

Time expectation:
This is a flexible, home based role and can be shared with other volunteers. Time expectation for this role will vary across our volunteer groups, your local contact will be able to provide more information.

 

How we will support you:
You will receive full training and support in your role. Your contact for this role will provide you with day to day support, guidance and direction and your staff contact will work with others to ensure you have a positive and enjoyable volunteering experience. We also have Volunteering, Communications and Branch Support teams who can provide you with guidance and information.
