Dementia Friends Development Manager - The Congleton Partnership
Dementia Friends Development Manager.
Self motivated person to visit organisations and business in Congleton to increase awareness and improve the environment for families living with dementia. Help make Congleton a dementia friendly town
People with dementia and their carers talk about everyday challenges they face to live well with dementia. The health services function is crucial, but there is also a role that many others within a town can play to help make life a little easier for those living with dementia.
Dementia is believed to affect 1 in 14 people over the age of 65, and one in 79 of the whole population. Around 850,000 people in the UK are recognised as having dementia.
We aim to make Congleton a Dementia Friendly Town, to be able to offer more support to people living with dementia, make shopping, visiting, socialising much more enjoyable and inclusive.
Congleton already has more than 350 Dementia Friends, we are keen to work with residents, groups and organisations from aged 8 to 80!
• To encourage more of our residents, organisations and businesses to become Dementia Friends
• To visit businesses, organisations, clubs, schools, shops, service providers etc to encourage them to attend Dementia Friends Awareness sessions.
• To encourage businesses, services etc to adapt their premises to create a dementia friendly environment, then monitor their progress over a period of time before awarding them recognition signage.
• Attend group meetings on a regular basis, to update the steering group on progress and any support required.
There are no set hours and you will have complete flexibility in what you do and the time you give to the task. All we ask is that we see some positive gains in participation with the scheme and improvement in the overall environment for people living with dementia.
