War Child UK is looking for five volunteers, who are interested in making positive change for children affected by conflict around the world, to join our Youth Advocates Panel.

Our Youth Advocates are a small panel of young people, with conflict-affected backgrounds, who are interested in trying to make a positive change for children affected by conflict around the world. The objectives of the group are:

  • To help raise awareness of issues affecting children in current and post conflict societies with the public, decision makers and the media.
  • To support War Child UK in influencing change in policies and opinions relating to children and young people affected by conflict

There are wide variety of what you could be involved in- and the types of advocacy opportunities will vary - but it will always be up to you to say what you feel you can or can’t contribute. In the past members have done things like joined policy discussions, given presentations, been interviewed for TV, radio and newspapers, come along to events in the Houses of Parliament, at Global Summits and War Child UK’s own music gigs.

There are no set hours, as the engagement depends on the opportunities available, which maybe every couple of months or so. Members would be contacted as opportunities arise and a discussion would take place first about what taking part will mean. Individual support would be offered before, during and after any events and participation is completely voluntary; we only encourage members to get involved with what they feel comfortable with. Regular meetings between other members of the group would also be supported by War Child UK.
