Ealing Mencap are passionate about making Ealing a great place to live for people with learning difficulties and ensuring that they are able to achieve their potential.  We do this by campaigning for people’s rights, creating opportunities, showcasing our beneficiaries’ talents and skills, and breaking down barriers to overcome isolation and change lives. 

Ealing Mencap has been operating for over 50 years and in this time we have delivered a wide range of services and support in the Borough.  There is a huge range of learning difficulties and the support required is very individual. The right support is critical to enabling someone to have as a rich a life as possible and to achieve their potential.  Our help not only impacts the individual but also all of those who around them such as parents, carers, friends and others.  To help us to continue our essential work we are looking to recruit up to three additional trustees to build on the strength of our existing board. 

In particular we are keen to attract trustees with professional backgrounds who have an understanding of governance and the charity sector.  

The charity is hoping to appoint three new trustees to complement the current board in its role as a governing body: setting strategy and ensuring exemplary governance and fiscal control.

The charity is keen to bring additional skills to its board through the appointment of individuals who ideally have a background in one of the following areas:

  • Fundraising and/or marketing
  • Social media and PR
  • Lived experience as the parent of a young person with learning difficulties

The board meets 4 times a year and there are also opportunities to get involved in our sub committees or visit our projects.  Your time, experience and skills will be invaluable in our continued growth and successes, helping us deliver on our ambitions and increase our impact in a challenging financial climate.
