As we grow older we all face new challenges but that doesn’t stop us from wanting a fulfilling independent later life. Age UK Sutton (AUKS) is passionate that everyone should have the opportunity to be able to make the most of later life, whatever the circumstances, wants and needs.
Since our launch in 1991, AUKS has made steady progress; our income has grown from £29,000 in 1991 to a current turnover of around £1 million. We are a vital and empowered organisation supported by a skilled and dedicated team of staff and volunteers committed to delivering quality services. Our services include information & advice, advocacy, befriending and socialisation, an integrated home from hospital and primary care service, outreach work, a menu of practical support options, health promotion and exercise. We are also working towards delivering dementia friendly services.
We are hoping to appoint up to two new trustees to complement the current board in its role as a governing body: setting strategy and ensuring exemplary governance and fiscal control.
We are keen to bring additional skills to the board through the appointment of individuals who ideally have a background in one of the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Communications
- Legal
- Senior level health and social care
- Business/commercial
Appointments are initially for three years, with the opportunity for re-election, up to a maximum of six years. Trustees are unpaid, but reasonable out of pocket expenses can be reimbursed. The board meets quarterly as well as an annual review and an away day. Trustees may also be asked to join a subcommittee and to provide ad hoc support to the CEO.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in helping to fulfil Age UK Sutton’s goal to enable older people across Sutton to love later life. We are looking for Trustees who share our ambition to achieve the best older people’s services that are shaped by local needs and experiences.
If you want to play a leading part in shaping older peoples services in Sutton, then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Age UK Sutton is committed to equality and strongly values diversity. We are keen to encourage applications from female candidates.
