Summer in Southside - Saturday 14 July and Sunday 15 July

This year, our two-day festival heads back to the carefree days of childhood with a programme full of FREE fun for kids of all ages. The streets around Birmingham Hippodrome will be transformed into a summer playground with traditional funfair rides, retro games, and a whole host of exciting, nostalgic performances to spark the imagination. The festival attracts around 15,000 audiences over the two days, so it’s a large-scale outdoor event, and its also great FUN.

With plenty of exciting pop-up performances throughout the weekend such as;

Mufti Games and their Massive Battleships!
Fun DMC and their kid friendly hip hop
Fantabulosa’s Drag Queen Storytime
The Actual Reality Arcade and their retro 1980’s games
Pif Paf, Seed and a giant slug
A roaming family of dinosaur fossils (minus Dippy!)
French artist Olivier Grossetete’s recreation of the original Isengard Fortress Tower from the Lord of the Rings
Music from local bands Bostin Brass and Gorillabot
And much much more!

What is expected of me

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who have great people skills and are strong team players who can act as stewards. You will need to be available to attend a volunteer briefing and a training session that will take place on 6 or 11 July 7pm-9.30pm. The training session will provide you with an opportunity to meet the team and gain an understanding of the event.
