Sense Holidays Volunteer
Sense holidays are full of fun activities and different experiences. Volunteer on a Sense holiday and support a disabled child, young person or adult with multi-sensory impairments or complex communication needs, as they try new things, make friends and enjoy a break away from home.
We have over 20 breaks running this summer between July and October, in locations all across England. Each break is five to seven nights long. From city breaks, to canal boats and cottages there is something for everyone. Each break is different, and could include swimming, drumming, visits to local attractions, canoeing, dry slope skiing, meals out, or nights in the pub!
We’re looking for volunteers who are team players, enthusiastic, caring, and good communicators. You’ll be part of a team led by an experienced and skilled holiday leader, working one-to-one with a child, young person or adult. All volunteers receive training and support. Volunteering on a Sense Holiday is completely free of charge and all your accommodation, food and activity expenses will be covered.
A typical day could include
- Supporting your buddy getting up and ready in the morning
- Enjoying an activity together like drumming or canoeing
- Working as a team to make lunch
- Chilling out in a sensory room or doing some crafts together
- A movie night
- Helping your buddy brush their teeth and get ready for bed
