Chichester Diocesan Association for Family Support Work is a charity that works with families and children across the whole of Sussex, with a central office in Brighton and a current turnover of £500,000. We offer a range of services for families who are facing the challenges that life has given them, be that mental health issues; debt; unemployment; bereavement; marriage breakdown or any other challenge that a family faces.

Founded in 1890 we have a long history of delivering value-based services and having the family at the heart of what we do.

We are currently looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees to help guide and advise us on financial matters. We have a dedicated Financial Controller and so the role of Treasurer is to help oversee the financial work of our charity, not to be involved in the day-to-day financial management of the Association.

We have a Finance and Investment Committee with delegated authority from the Executive Board. The successful person will need to be able to attend meetings of this Committee as well as presenting at our AGM and attending a Trustee annual away day. In total, this means a commitment of approx. 12 meetings a year. In addition, there may be adhoc meetings with the Chairman and Director.

We are looking for someone with a passion for ensuring high quality services are given to the families of Sussex and who has senior experience of Financial Controls – i.e. an accountant or similar. Preferably, we would like someone with an understanding of charity finance, pensions and legal requirements but this is not essential.

For an informal conversation and further information about this role, please contact the Director on 01273 832963 or by email
