Wood Workshop Assistant

Chester, Cheshire
Volunteer Role
21 Dec 2017
21 Mar 2018
Hours per month
1 to 10 hours, 10 to 20 hours
Long Term

For over 40 years Save the Family has provided safe and supported accommodation, training and life skills for troubled and homeless families. Our site just outside Chester has many facilities such as a children's centre, arts and crafts room, kitchen garden and wood workshop. Volunteers engaging with resident service users play a key part in the work that Save the Family does with homeless families.

Volunteer Wood Workshop Assistants will support and guide resident service users in the use of wood working tools to create items for sale and for use on site. Key to being successful within this role is to build trusting relationships with service users over time and encourage them to develop their skills further and to be creative and imaginative. Volunteers would be expected to keep the workshop area clean and organised.

This is a rewarding role for anyone that has a couple of hours free a week. The position is flexible on number of days and hours.
