Harlow Carr Education Team
RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
RHS Garden Harlow Carr, the Society’s most Northern garden, has volunteering opportunities for enthusiastic people to assist our education department throughout the year. Harlow Carr offers a wide range of exciting workshops for children aged between 3–18 years of age and uses the fantastic 58-acre garden to engage with more than 13,000 children per year.
Our education volunteers interact with many schools and visitors and act as advocates for the charitable work of the Society.
Applicants should have a passion for horticulture and working with people of all ages, experience of working or teaching school aged children would be desirable. Applicants should enjoy working in a range of situations both indoor and outdoor and be reasonably fit (as some workshops require a lot of walking to different areas within the site).
We are looking for volunteers who are available to work during term time from 9am to 3pm, with a 30-minute break for lunch and we ask for a commitment of at least two days a month, in separate weeks. We do, of course, understand that sometimes life will get in the way so it is, therefore, important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us throughout the year before filling in an application.
