Volunteer Community Safety Officer - The Milford Haven Waterway
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea, but it’s not limited to launching a lifeboat or providing lifeguards to save lives.
Community Safety fulfils one of the four strands of the RNLI’s concept of operations, saving life at sea by providing free education and advice and facilitating other interventions through Community Lifesaving Plans.
The Community Safety Officer is a pivotal role in that you would be involved in the design and implementation of the Community Lifesaving Plan, liaising closely with the Community Incident Reduction Manager and the local Lifeboat Station. A Community Lifesaving Plan is aimed at reducing fatalities and serious incidents by targeting particular “at risk” groups with specifically targeted interventions.
This volunteer opportunity would suit somebody who has an understanding of marine based and waterside activity in the local area covered by the plan. You will be responsible for a team including a volunteer who will deliver the interventions identified in the plan, another who will be seeking to develop further relationships within the community and finally a volunteer who will ensure that the team has a good administrative back-up. Good interpersonal and organisational skills will therefore be important and potentially somebody who has supervised a team although this is not a requirement to be considered for this role.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for someone who is PC competent and can be effective both within a team and on a stand-alone basis; analytical skills would also be advantageous.
