Cats Protection helps thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers. As a welfare team leader you will encourage and support your team of dedicated cat care volunteers and fosterers to ensure the cats and kittens in their care receive the best possible care and attention.

What the role involves:

  • Coordinating and supporting cat care volunteers and fosterers, ensuring they are happy and confident in their roles
  • Working with cat care volunteers, fosterers and other colleagues to ensure Cats Protection’s quality of care is provided and maintained to cats in care, this will be supported by adhering to policies, procedures, minimum veterinary standards and minimum cat care standards
  • Working closely with the homing team to maintain up to date records of the cats in care to ensure cats ready to be rehomed are matched as quickly as possible
  • Promoting and supporting the development of cat care volunteers and fosterers to enable them to fulfil their roles

 

Skills and experience which are expected and/or can be developed in this role:

  • Basic knowledge of cats and cat care
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good level of record keeping/administration skills
  • Well organised and practical
  • Patience and perseverance
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to bring out the best in others

                                            

Time expectation:

This is an extremely flexible role and the time involved will vary depending on the number of volunteers and cats in care , 10-12 hours per week would not be unusual for this role. This role can be shared by more than one volunteer.
