Role outline and the difference you will make

You will work within the busy Community and Events Fundraising Team supporting them in the planning and delivery of their Christmas projects. These include the Midwinter swim events and Crisis Christmas Collections.

You will encourage our volunteers and supporters to raise as much as they can. Ensuring they have everything they need and thanking them afterwards.

You will also help to coordinate cash handling logistics, ensuring that cash is returned to Crisis at the end of the day and counted in accordance with our policy.

Core tasks and what you will achieve 

  • Sending out volunteer and supporter materials
  • Helping to plan the collection and counting of money raised
  • Managing supporter enquires that come into the Midwinter swim inbox
  • Providing support with logistics and on-the-day delivery of events/collections
  • Supporting our volunteers and supporters in the lead up to and on the day of their event/collection
  • Thanking volunteers and supporters for their support
  • Creating content for our social media channels
  • Updating records on Raiser’s Edge to ensure high quality supporter care
  • Researching and securing Gifts in Kind
  • Providing other support to the Community and Events Team as directed.

The skills & experience we’re looking for

  • Good communication skills (including telephone and written communication)
  • Confident using IT systems e.g. internet, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
  • Friendly and confident in speaking with a range of people
  • Trustworthy with ability to count and record money
  • Ability to follow instructions and also take initiative when required
  • Interest and experience in organising events (desirable)
  • Experience of using Facebook and an understanding of how to create good, engaging social media content (desirable)

Ideal time commitment: 2 days a week between 23 October - 12 January
