Volunteer Community Safety Adviser- The Lizard
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea, but it’s not limited to launching a lifeboat or providing lifeguards to save lives.
Community safety fulfils one of the four strands of the RNLI’s concept of operations, saving live at sea by providing free education and advice and facilitating other interventions through Community Lifesaving Plans.
The Community Safety Adviser is a public facing role as you will be going out into the community and delivering the RNLI community safety advice directly to members of the community. Whilst other members of the team will be designing the Community Lifesaving Plan which is aimed at reducing fatalities and serious incidents, and targeting particular ‘at risk’ groups, we are asking for advisers to provide that face-to-face intervention. Whilst you are out in the community we would ask you to take the opportunity to seek out further openings to promote the RNLI’s safety messages advising the Volunteer Community Safety Co-Ordinator of opportunities which may arise.
This is a great role for somebody who has good communication and people skills and possibly some experience of public speaking but if not, the desire to gain some skills and/or confidence in this area. The ability to interact within a team will be important and, whilst it would be desirable to have some knowledge of coastal activity, this is by no means a requirement to be considered for this role.
If you would like to join a friendly, dedicated and motivated team and fit the criteria above or, have some of the required skills and would like to develop further in this area, we would like to hear from you. Training will be provided to ensure a full knowledge of the RNLI and in particular the work of Community Safety Team.
