Volunteer Lifeboat Visits Officer - Littlestone, Kent
Would you like to be part of a happy band of volunteers that are helping to save lives at sea without even getting wet? Could you get involved in encouraging local schools, youth and adult organisations to visit the lifeboat station where you or a colleague could deliver messages about the work of the RNLI and staying safe near water, to the different groups?
Volunteering as a Lifeboat Visits Officer and being part of the RNLI’s lifeboat station is an important role within the charity as we aim to save the lives of people of all age groups through our fantastic visits programme. A message given today could be a life saved tomorrow.
As well as encouraging the different groups to visit the station, we would ask you to assist in finding and supporting volunteers who will assist in presenting our vital water safety messages alongside promoting the work of the RNLI to inspire and motivate the next generation of RNLI supporters.
In this role, you will liaise with other station volunteers such as the Station Manager and the Press Officer regarding any advertising and also to ensure good communication and that the visits do not impact on other operational matters. Ideally you will have experience of interacting with young people and be a strong team player, as well as being a good communicator with a willingness to be proactive in the community. If you possess or would like to develop these qualities we would love to hear from you.
Just as we give all our lifeboat crews the right training and equipment to carry out their lifesaving work, we provide all of our volunteers with the necessary training and support to carry out their role effectively. RNLI volunteers have access to a range of online learning materials, as well as opportunities for one to one support from fellow volunteers and RNLI specialists.
In this role you will have the opportunity to meet lots of new people and develop your communication and presentation skills.
Please join us in making a difference to the safety of people of all ages.
