About Be Free Young Carers
Be Free Young Carers is an independent charity supporting young carers in southern Oxfordshire - young people aged between 8 - 24 who care for a family member with a long term illness, disability, mental health condition or drug or alcohol addiction.
As the only specialised charity for young carers in the county, Be Free YC aims to provide practical, educational, emotional and social support through:
- group trips and activities allowing the young carer time to relax, socialise and make friends and have fun
- training to build confidence in areas such as first aid and cookery
- providing information and advice
- liaising with schools
- one-to-one emotional support
With at least 13,000 young carers in Oxfordshire - on average 2 young carers in every class room across all year groups - unsurprisingly demand on the charity is high and increasing.
